The oldest earrings ever found by archaeologists were discovered in Iraq and date back to about 2,500 B.C. Since then, earrings have had a rocky history, coming in and out of style based on the availability of metals, the popularity of elaborate hairstyles or wigs, and the presence of fashion trends like Elizabethan collars or bonnets. But don’t think that pierced earrings are a modern invention! They’ve actually been around far longer than the screw-on and clip-on backs which weren’t invented

"MarketPlace" was broadcasted on Feb 6 and re-ran on CBC NewsWorld on Feb 9.
